Meet Calvin and Sophie – Geeky Love

Hi Everyone,

I have a little story for you – feel free to skip. hahaa

I had something really weird happen to me today and I thought I would share because it is a little bit funny.

I’ll start by explaining that I have kept some very odd hours this week, more odd than usual as I have been really busy trying to do lots of stuff. Wednesday I was actually awake for 26 hours being pestered by my team about making some new laser cut decorations – POINTS FINGER at LYDIA!!! So that is the background…

Today however I woke up as normal, pottered around getting ready for the day. Got myself organised and begun doing my list of things. I had all my orders packed and went off to the post office only to find that the queue was so long it was hanging out the door. I waited around for a little while to see how fast the queue was moving but only one person had exited and I was thinking this is crazy, I’ll just come back tomorrow.

So I come home, have a number of things on the go that I check up on and finally I sit down for a moment to have a coffee. I went to see what the weather was going to be like over the next few days and it said… “For the rest of Friday…” and my heart sank.

Today was FRIDAY!! not Thursday!!! I quickly checked the time and I couldn’t believe it was 4:59 exactly. Post Office would be closed by the time I stood up! (So I need to apologise to my customers for not sending off your parcels today)

But the thing is, I have had clues ALL DAY and it never dawned on me. I wanted to go into town earlier and DH said, oh you wouldn’t want to go Friday arvo it will be crazy, and I remember thinking to myself, yeah well today is Thursday so shouldn’t be too bad. Another clue was when I was talking with a client of mine and I was in a hurry and said – well we could catch up tomorrow and he was like well we could wait until Monday and I just thought, well OK then.

So I SERIOUSLY lost a WHOLE day. It is the such a bizarre feeling.

On to the Card and NEW image!!

So after losing a whole day I realised I was behind AND I hadn’t shared a card with you for ages so I thought it would be fun to colour up one of my new images ‘Geeky Love‘. Which is now available in store.

I just think they are ADORABLE! I had a little competition on Face book to name them and with so many choices it was quite difficult but I finally decided they would be named, Calvin and Sophie. Hopefully we might see more of these two in the future. :)

I had a bit of fun and when I began to colour Sophie I decided she should be wearing a tartan skirt and of course to tie in with my stereotypical ‘geeky’ theme Calvin is wearing a diamond decorated woolen cardigan. heehee

I faintly drew on the design with a lead pencil before colouring with copics. Sorry I don’t recall all the colours but I I used the new ‘Make it Colour‘ card stock (that my team are all raving about!!) and I have just got more in stock so grab it while it’s hot! heehee

I made a very basic clean card so they would be the centre of attention and added a few flowers from WOC, curled wire and some ribbon to decorate.

The ‘Be Mine’ tag will SOON be available in rubber for just a few dollars!! I plan to make a few different designs as I think they are so cute to tuck into little spaces. I always have trouble trying to decide where to place a sentiment which is often why I don’t have one!!

I would like to share my card today with the following challenges!

  1. ColourQ – colour challenge
  2. Wild Orchid – Let’s get sentimental
  3. Aud Sentiments – Use a Love Sentiment
  4. Rainbow Ladies – Use something Scottish
  5. Tuesday Throwdown – Valentine

New! Tid Bits and Q & A time! (If you ask a question in the comments I will TRY to respond on my next post.)
Ok so this is more difficult than I thought. I will try to answer as often as I have time. :) xxooo

Brenda: “One question I have please when you are layering two digi’s are they jpeg images or png images?”
JPG images come with a white background and can’t be layered without hiding the other image. PNG image usually come with a transparent background but most often the whole image is transparent except for the black outline. Make it Crafty PNG images come with a transparent outer and an opaque white on the inside of the linework so that they can be layered in regular programs like MS Word.

However you can edit images that don’t come like this in a photo editing program. There is a tutorial here made by Sandy on how to do that.

Paola: “Is that a parrot in the background that we keep hearing, you have had him so long you dont even notice, he he.”
Yes, he is named Pluto and I have had him for 5 or 6 years – ha can’t remember. He chats ALL the time and I do notice but I ignore. I had to cut a lot out so it wouldn’t get tooo annoying. :)

Candy: “My one wish was that you stayed with your camera CLOSER the whole time. It was hard to see exactly how you were doing those tiny places with it so far away.”
Thanks Candy, I’m setting up a new craft room with better lighting so I will look at taking my future videos with a better camera with better zoom capabilities. :)

Barbara: “I’ve been trying to figure out how your E40s colors equate to mine.
It is the reflection of all the white space. I didn’t colour the whole area and left lots of white so it’s a bit like an old newspaper image I guess where they would span the dots further apart or closer to create the grayscale.

Cindy: “Also, how do you keep your nails so beautiful?
No they are not I promise! They are very difficult to keep clean and I am forever picking stuff out of them. I even noticed in my video that I had a little grime under one of my nails. They get covered in ink ALL the time but I use a hand sanitiser to clean them up. :)

Tracy: “My favorite though, love that your copics are just as mucked up as mine! LOL I read that you should take a swab and some alcohol and clean them up
Hahahaa. Yes I have cleaned them a few times but I use them so often that cleaning them would mean less colouring time!! I’ll just look like a grub! heeeeheee

Sally: “Can you tell me how you coloured her dress as I think its so very pretty
I have some videos on how I colour pleats if you look under Video Tutorials.

Joyce: “I would only ask that you put a pop up on the screen when you switch colors and also make PDF versions so we can read whenever we want and put in a book of “learning”.
Thanks for the suggestion for the videos. I do say the colours as I pick them up but maybe that’s not too clear? I would love to be able to make a PDF version however again it is a time issue. The last videos took over an hour to record, then a couple of hours to edit and render and then a few hours to upload. So it really is a labour of love to try and share just a little with you all. :)

If I have missed some questions you were waiting on an answer for please post again. I had so many comments recently that I may have missed it.

Thanks so much for popping by today and I do hope you will go and grab yourself this gorgeous little couple ‘Geeky Love‘ and have a play too. Maybe my challenge to you is to decorate their clothing too!!

Phew! My Mojo is back… Something Pretty.

Hi Everyone,

Well with everything that has been going on here this week I just haven’t had any mojo. Each time I would sit down to try and ‘relax’ and colour it would all turn into a kids colouring book and be a mess and I was getting grumpy and so it just made the situation worse.

But today, a little bit of sunshine arrived in my mailbox. Completely unexpected. Last week I had signed up for the Magnolia Stamp Club believing I would be starting from the next release. I was sitting here reading the latest news when DH walks in the door saying “I think you have rubber in this one…” I was a confused as I hadn’t ordered anything and as I opened the parcel and began to pull them out… well let’s just say a little bit of excitement!!

So I have been cheery all day anticipating colouring one up tonight! Now… I know I am supposed to be going all Clean & Simple BUT she begged me!!!  heheee 5 hours later I am happy with the result too for once. :)

This is Tilda with Balloon and I decided to colour her a little lighter than my usual colouring and thought a pretty green dress with a touch of purple would be quite sweet.

These are ‘COOL’ colours and would work very well with our Make it Colourful challenge to colour with either ‘COOL or WARM’ colours. You still have the rest of today to get your entry in!

Tilda is coloured with the following copic marker colours:

Dress: Blender, G40, YG06, G05, Y00, Y13
Balloon: BV00, BV13, V17
Hair: E30, E33, E53
Skin: E000, E01, E11, R20
Shoes: Blender, E30
Socks: Blender, B60

So with such a pretty part dress on, Tilda didn’t want to be all plain and boring so I had to dress her up a little. :) I also received a nice package from Wild Orchid Crafts with these gorgeous flowers and I had just the perfect colours to match Tilda.

The papers are sooo old. I am trying really hard to start using up my old stuff before I buy new stuff. :)

The little pink butterfly is a Doohickey die from my two gorgeous friends in Canada but it was too big so I cut off the tail and cut down the wings and then I stuck on some pretty glitter beads in the centre.

I added some cute little buttons to the corner for the Just Magnolia challenge and I am racing to get it in on time!!

I wanted to add something to the centre of the bow but didn’t really have anything and then I got the idea to use some of my beads. I glued a purple bead to ring that has rhinestones around it and then glued it to the bow. I quite like it!

I added some glitter to the leaves for some shine and called it finished!

I would like to share this card with the following challenges:

  1. Simon Says Stamp – Sketch (I altered it a little as my image was a bit long)
  2. Just Magnolia – Anything Goes with Buttons
  3. Sentimental Sundays – Anything with Wings
  4. Craft Your Passion – Let’s Tie One On
  5. Stampin B’s – Use a die cut
  6. Creative Cowgirls Challenge – Something New
  7. Sparkles Forum Challenge – Something New (Top 3! Thanks Sparkles!!)
  8. Pollycraft Monday Challenge – New Things
  9. Cupcake Craft Challenge – Something New
  10. Crafty Creations – New Beginnings
  11. The Creative Cottage – Something New
  12. Reasonable Ribbon – Something New plus Ribbon
  13. Crafty Purple Frog – New Goodies

Boy that’s a few for me. Lot’s of ‘New’ challenges. :) Hope you like stopping by. :)

I am feeling a little bit tired for Q & A – so I am going to come back tomorrow and go through any questions I have received. :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing my passion with me. And thank you soooo much to all my friends from around the world for the support and care you have shown towards us Aussie Queenslanders.

Big Squeezes!!  Take care.

My first play with Sugar Nellie

Hi Everyone,

Firstly I would like to say a big thank you to all of you for supporting me with my blog candy. It’s so nice to see some new faces and of course my special long term followers. *squeezes*

I am indeed in the process of putting together another little something to say an extra special thank you to those of you who support me with comments on my work. I am just waiting on some goodies to arrive that I want to share with you too. heehee

Now to the card! Well my first self indulged Christmas present arrived today! Some Sugar Nellie stamps! :) I had been seeing these little cuties around but I finally gave in to the temptation when my gorgeous DT lady Tracy was recently playing with them. :) (Yes you want to take a peek cause she is awesome but not yet! In a minute. heehe)

This Sugar Nellie is called Fairy Tale. I had a little bit of trouble stamping it because I don’t have any mounting foam so some of the lines are a bit wishy washy.

Sticking to my CAS 2011 personal challenge. :)

And a close up of the colouring…

I was a little unsure how to colour the bow actually. Still not sure about it. If you have seen anyone master it, please send me a link. :)

I just looooove the hair on these characters. So gorgeous and flowy that you can do lots of experimenting. I am already thinking about what I will do different. heehee

She was coloured with copic markers and then I added a few touches with prismacolor pencils.

Copic Colours:

Skin: E01, E11, E13, E17 &
Face extras: R20, B21, B24 & G29, G05
Dress: B21, B24, B26, B28
Bow & Shoes: Y00, Y13, Y17, Y38, YR24, E17
Hair: C02, C04, C05, C07, C09

Prismacolor colors:
Hair: PC935, PC 938
Dress: PC901
Bow: PC915

I would like to share this card with the following challenges:

  1. Mojo Monday – Fabulous Sketch!
  2. Allsorts - Thank You
  3. Speedy Cat’s Friends – Use something new
  4. Drunken Stampers – Use something new
  5. Creative Inspirations – Use something new!
  6. Craft Your Passion – Anything Goes
  7. Fab n Funky – Anything Goes

New! Tid Bits and Q & A time! (If you ask a question in the comments I will respond on my next post.)

Rene asks: “Ever think about doing a tutorial on how to get folds in clothing?”
I have a video here that I took colouring an image to show how I contemplate colouring with folds. However I do plan to create an indepth video at some stage, likely for an upcoming Make it Colourful challenge. hint hint :)

Linda in CA : Experiment!
Yes Linda. I was the same. It wasn’t until I stopped being worried about ruining the image I had just coloured before I began to really get my depth and play with new ideas. At the end of the day… you could just colour it again. :)

Sherry Craig: Referencing an image
Yes! Everyone should be doing this. It is the perfect way to learn new ideas and experiment. There are a few people along the way that I can thank for creating turning points in my colouring directions. I would sit there and COPY their colouring to the best of my ability to see if i could recreate it. By doing this I learned new skills with my medium. It doesn’t matter what you are using either. One of the images that was a turning point for me was originally coloured with distress inks and I wanted to try and recreate it with copics. Here’s a link to one of my turning points in colouring.

Thanks for stopping by today. Your comments are always cherished and valued.

My New Years resolution is to leave love as I hop around so please make sure you leave a link to your blog so I can have a sticky beak!

Hugs and as always… Take Care

Girls just wanna have fun!

Hi Everyone,

Well I was complaining about all the rain we have had for weeks and finally for the last couple of days we have had beautiful sunny weather. A little humid and LOTS of mosquitoes but finally things have a chance to dry up. We feel very fortunate though as some areas of Queensland are having some of the worst floods in 100 years and devastatingly many people have lost everything. Such a horrible event to happen at this time of year especially.

I was so tired when I wrote up my blog candy post that I realised afterwards that I didn’t express how Thankful I am to all my gorgeous followers who leave the most encouraging comments and have helped to make me who I am today. So I am going to put together another little collection of goodies and add it to the post. :)

Today I wanted to share a card I made yesterday. Continuing on with the CAS layout and letting the image shine. :) I was very honoured yesterday to have been included in a top list of ladies that inspire Crissy Armstrong. The talent is incredible and I am so humbled to have had one of my creations along side these ladies. Do go take a peek here (well after you finish here because you will get stuck there and wont see my card!) Well there were a couple of ladies Crissy had been hiding from me and after my dilemma (good to bad) the other day I was immediately drawn to the amazing creations of Yvonne and I just had to share with you!

My card layout is inspired by Yvonne’s stunning creations. She definitely makes it look easy but her clean style and detail is so appealing.

Enough chatter you say!! Show us the card!!

I used a few layers by cutting out shapes with spellbinder dies and then matting with a red that matched Tilda’s top. I stippled the edges with Adirondack Lemonade and Peach Bellini.

I designed up the sentiment and printed it out – Girls just wanna have fun. Which I thought worked nicely with ‘Happy Tilda’.

Here’s a close up of Tilda.

As per usual, I was playing around with the creases in her clothing. I was talking with DH last night about creating folds as he had decided he was quite impressed and he asked how I decided where to place the folds. And my response was I don’t know. I just work it and guess it because it’s just material. She could move just slightly and all the creases and folds would drastically change!

So the point of that ramble…  Experiment ladies! Just try it. It doesn’t matter where the folds are and remember it will look terrible when you first begin. It’s not until you have coloured the whole area in and added your extra shading that it really pops. You have to add your last layer of shading at the very end without blending it in.

I made a bit of a mistake on her pants and they got too dark on the left so I had to come in with some prismacolor pencils to lighten it up. Fortunately you can’t tell unless you are looking for it. :) I then decided to add some extra depth all over with the prismacolor pencils, just because. :) heehee

The shoes! argh they just kept getting darker and darker. They were meant to be more of a golden colour but they weren’t looking good and so more work was required thus they got darker. Oh well…

Copic Marker Colours:

Top: R22, R24, R29 & E19
Pants: B93, B95, B97 & B99
Hair: Y00, Y15, Y38, YR24 & flicks of E17, E19, E25, E37
Shoes: Y15, Y38, YR24, E19, E37

Prismacolor pencils
Reds: PC937, PC927
Blues: PC901, PC1102, PC1087

I would like to share this creation with the following challenges!

  1. Just Magnolia – Anything Goes
  2. Simon Says Stamp – Time to party / celebrate
  3. Stampin’ B’s Design Team – Celebrate
  4. Stampavie and More – Red
  5. Incy Wincy Designs – Distressing
  6. City Crafter – Stamp it

Thanks so much for stopping by today and as always your comments are much appreciated.

I have a new idea regarding questions, so if you have any questions just post them in the comments area and then in my next post I will respond to them! :)

Hugs and take care all

Hanging my head in Embarrassment

Hi Everyone,

After my last post today, I became embarrassed after a few comments started to roll in. I honestly had no intention to what may appeared to have been ‘fishing for a boost in confidence’.

I feel so fortunate to have such a wonderful following. I receive so many glowing comments from you that I want to be able to ‘WOW’ you every time you stop by. My intention of my previous post had been to show that I am not ‘perfect’ for lack of a better word. I become so frustrated with myself when I know that I can do better and can’t understand why sometimes I struggle so hard to make a card work!

Sometimes I think I try to be what I am not and lose my own creativity in the process. So I guess that is a lesson I need to learn. :) Maybe that should be my personal challenge for next year! Find my own style and just go with the flow!

So I sat here and decided I would attempt to colour Tilda with her letters once again and this time make a simple ‘Zoe style’ card. :)

These simple design cards don’t intimidate me as much as trying to create all the layers and flowers and matching DP, glitter etc… They can have bold colours and the image itself can tell the story.

The bow probably took longer to get right than anything else on the card. heehee

Now the colouring. I definitely think the fold on the dress this time is better and it helps to give the perception that her knee is forward. However, whilst colouring this image again I realised that I don’t actually like the image. You all know I love Magnolia stamps but in my opinion they drew this one wrong.

The way the letters are positioned on ‘her’ right knee doesn’t make sense or I am just not picturing it correctly. It is as though the letters are cutting into her leg as they are neither in front of the leg nor behind.

And so I think this is where my brain had trouble trying to decide how to colour the folds.

OK to some of your questions and feedback!

Stephanie
I think the trouble I had with the folds is I had trouble imagining how the dress would fall over her knees due to the positioning of the letters. I have tried to colour again to show you the difference. :)

Chrissy
I practice a lot. It’s the colouring I enjoy the most. Sometimes I will just colour faces. Sometimes I will just play around colouring folds. Sometimes I just want to try a different mix of colours. My work 7 months ago was shocking and I think the turning point for me was relaxing, working on my light source and casing other people’s work I admired.

Comment without a name
Often cards I don’t like don’t get finished and find their way to the bin. All my other cards at put into a box unless I have made them for someone specifically. The problem however, is that after a few months I don’t like them anymore as I have improved since then. I just threw away about 20 cards that I knew I would never send to anyone. I did keep cards that had been ‘turning’ points for memories. :)

Vicki
I started with a couple of skin colours too. They are an expensive hobby. I don’t actually have as many colours as what many others do. I have the different colour families and I rely on the ability to blend colours together and rely very much on my greys.
I would suggest investing in some cool greys and then adding a light and medium shade of your favourite colours. Blues, reds for example. Then you can use your greys to get the extra depth without having to buy so many colours as you play. Plus you can use the cool greys for black hair too so you don’t need to get the browns straight away for hair. :)

Diane
I think you helped to clarify my point. With practice I have become good at colouring that each time I colour I want it to be better than the last time. :) And my pleasure. Always feel free to ask away and I’ll help where I can. :)

Can you believe that it is only 2 days until my one year ‘blogoversary’? Thank you everyone for all your encouragement. :)

hugs

DP so old it’s probably a collectors item

Hi Everyone,

I’m back already! And I have another card to share. This card actually shares a bit of the ‘old’ me with the ‘new’ me. You see… this time last year, I did NOT colour. Well, not with copics and nothing at all serious. I was more like Tim Holtz I think, making fancy stamped backgrounds, lots of heat embossing, more simpler style cards except for my mechanical type projects. I would stamp up marbled looking backgrounds and then stamp my black stamps on top to create different effects.

So the point! Well Mag’s latest card (view here) reminded me of an old Judi-Kins stamp I had of this Japanese woman (tried to find her without much luck – I think she is about 5-6 years old). I loved the idea of ‘Timber Top Ridge‘ being perceived as Japanese so I thought I would try bringing the two together.

When putting this card together I remembered I had some old Asian themed papers and embellishments. I knew the paper must be really old and went searching online to see if i could find out what it was called and how old it is. I still had the company name on the paper ‘Over The Moon Press’ which was owned by EK Success. They don’t have them listed on their site so I have come to the conclusion I must have had this paper for 10 years or so and it’s likely classified as a collectors item. heehee  Pity I covered so much of it up!

The hanging charm is probably about the same age and the flowers would be three or four years old.

The only new thing on this card is my new digi stamp ‘ Timber Top Ridge‘! So it just goes to show that these fabulous scenes can inspire you to dust off your old stamps and play again!

Obviously I had never tried to colour her before and this was actually quite daunting as she certainly wasn’t designed to be ‘coloured’ like we colour today. So I played around with lines and attempted to create my own folds. Some I am happy with but now she is coloured I can see changes I could have made.

I coloured the tree the colours of a Japanese Cherry Blossom and I googled ‘Japanese Birds’ and coloured the two birds like a ‘Brown-eared Bulbul’.

Inspired by Annika, I cut out some cloud shapes from masking paper and then dotted around them to add some depth and do something a bit different for the sky.

Well that was my bit of fun for today! It was fun to play with some of my old stuff and re-use them with my new skills!

I would like to share this card with the following challenges:

  1. Simon Says Stamp and Show – Something from Yesteryear (nostalgic memories playing with my old stuff!)
  2. Paper Sundaes – Cut it Out – Part of the character was cut by hand
  3. Riley and Co – Use metallics
  4. Stamps R Us – Anything Goes
  5. Moving Along with the Times – Anything Goes but not Christmas!

Thanks for stopping by today! Hopefully this creative spurt will continue throughout the week. :)

Hugs and Take Care All

Zoe xxxoo

P.S – It is still raining here. :(

‘Tis nearly Christmas! Argh!

Hi Everyone,

So I have been having a little stress attack since I realised this week that I haven’t got enough Christmas cards so every chance I get to make something it is Christmas. I am sorry, you must be all sick of Christmas cards across blogland. oops!

Well if anything I am happy to share my colouring on this sweet Tilda! I was playing around with the pleats on her blouse and am quite happy how it turned out. I really like how the arm looks near the elbow. hahaha yes I am weird I know. It’s the little things that count for me. :)

See the little corner embellishments? Well they will soon be available in store, along with some flourishes especially designed with ‘Love’ in mind. :) I simply dollied them up with embossing powder and I love how they turned out!

I also made some hat pins and I am loving the doohickey dies. :) Lots of glitter and gold embossing all over the place. I distressed the edges of the papers and then added some ink and sprinkled embossing powder and then scraped some off so it would look a little ‘distressed’ I guess.

Here is a close up of Tilda.

Sorry I don’t remember the colours I used as I coloured her a couple of weeks ago. :( But I did colour this image on my new blending card stock ‘Make it Colour” – Chance to win some here!

——————————————————————————–

I would like to share my card today with the following challenges:

  1. Just Magnolia – A Christmas Card
  2. Southern Girls Challenge – Heat Embossing
  3. Simon Says Stamp – Christmas with no red or green
  4. Papertake Weekly – Red & Green Must not be seen
  5. Freshly Brewed Challenges – Sparkle and Shine
  6. The Character Cafe – Glitter, Glitter, Glitter
  7. Allsorts – Last minute Christmas (Yup that’s me!!)
  8. Penny’s Paper Crafty – Merry Christmas

——————————————————————————–

Also, just a reminder about our blog hop coming up this Saturday! (Add our blinkie for a chance to win more prizes!) Lot’s of giveaways and by the reaction of my design team I think you will LOVE these new images and DO NOT want to miss out on a chance of winning your very own… oops, well that was just a little clue. :)

Thanks for stopping on by and I hope you have a fabulous week ahead!

Hugs and take care

Zoe xxoo

PS.. Don’t forget the blog hop!!  heehee OK I am just a little bit excited. :)

Edited for enquiring minds… heehee  COMING SOON!!

Updated: Love Heart Swirls now available in store!

I’m late. I’m late! only 18 days to go!

Hi Everyone,

Do you ever get that feeling that you think that you have plenty of time and then all of a sudden what ever it was is well, tomorrow? Well that happened to me today. I have been so busy in a world of my own that other than people throwing around the word Christmas I was in a daydream.

Until today… Did you know it is only 18 days away? Well it hit me like a tonne of bricks today when a Christmas card arrived in the mail. I thought… oh no. I haven’t started writing my cards! So I went looking through my box of cards collecting up my Christmas cards… and shock horror… FIVE!! that’s right. I only had FIVE!!

Well I just about fell over. So I decided it was time to get my buttocks into gear.

So today I share with you my Tilda Christmas card. I have been colouring her on and off for a while and finally finished her off and made a clean cut card. :)

I attempted to follow the colour combination at ColourQ this week but I really needed a touch of red too. :) I also added lots of stickles around the edges and added silver stickles for the stars. And I used a yellow spica pen for some glimmer on the light. This is so there was plenty of SPARKLE for Just Magnolia, and I thought I would play along with the Design Dollies Elements Challenge which my gorgeous friend Leah is on. They are asking for a minimum of 5 layers so I have a lot more matting than I normally do and it would be 6 if you count the bow sitting on top of mounting foam… hehehe

Here’s a close up.

So I coloured Tilda with Copic Markers first. I had this bright idea that I would have the light source come from the lantern. Just turned out to be harder than I had anticipated. I would like to share this idea with the ladies at Copic Creations (thank you Crissy for reminding me – I had completely forgotten their challenge was light source!!) Oh and I videoed me colouring for those that are interested. :) I just haven’t edited and don’t think I will remember the colours so wont be talking…

After I finished colouring with markers I started playing around with prismacolor pencils for the background. First I decided to just colour the whole sky in strokes and then laid a few colours down blending the pencils together. Then I started on the bench in greys. It wasn’t looking the way I wanted so I decided I had to do the baby oil again as I have been too busy to get any mineral spirits. So it was all blended in with baby oil and a Q-tip. :) I am pretty happy with the result actually. Works well when you are blending colour only. just not great when you are trying to blend the pencil to white…

Ok I have blabbered on enough…

Thanks so much for popping by. I think you all rock and I am happy I can inspire you a little with my creations and you all inspire me! oh looksie – getting all sentimental now. :)

Take care and big squeezes.

New Copic Marker Colouring Video

Hi Everyone,

I needed to colour an image today for an upcoming project (so yes you get a sneak peek. heehee) and I had the idea to just video the whole process and see how it turned out. Most of my previous videos have me rushing my colouring to beat the time so you don’t really get to see my natural colouring style.

So a 1 1/2 hours later it was rather obvious you wouldn’t want to sit around watching every detail so I decided to speed up the process and managed to cut it down to 20 minutes across two videos.

The image is ‘Little Christmas Angel’ illustrated by Crissy Armstrong. I thought this would be a great image to show you my process of colouring folds. I have attempted to narrate over the top but sometimes got the colours wrong.

Unfortunately the video camera completely over-saturated the reds in the image however at the end of the second video I show a scanned version where the colours are closer to real life.

I would love your feedback on this style of video and if you like it I will be happy to do more like this. Would prefer not having to talk though. heehee :)
