Blog Hop Winners

As promised I wanted to spread a little more Christmas cheer today and announce the winners of the blog hop. I have to admit that I had no idea that it would be as popular as it was and the feedback I received made me so proud of the amazing new ‘Colour Addicts’ who worked so hard to bring you a range of inspiration using the latest release of images.

I will be announcing four of the winners today and the hidden surprise winners will be announced in January when I regroup with the team.

Throughout the hop we had some puzzle pieces for you to collect and you had to guess which image they made up. The answer was the ‘Lovers Pavilion’.

We had 102 correct entries which was incredible. I admit I was anticipating maybe 40-50 entries so I was completely blown away. Thank you everyone for joining us and I am so happy you had fun along the way!

The winner of the Rubber collection including -

The BIG NEWS

So after much consideration and discussion with my team,
I have decided to end the Make it Crafty Technique & Fun challenges.

I will be taking back over my blog to share my crafty creations with you plus of course a few news items here and there!

This also means that unfortunately I will be closing down the Learning Crafters Community.
I do have something up my sleeve that I am working on but you wont hear about that for a while yet.

So there is a reason behind ending the challenges.

You see it turns out that behind the scenes our team couldn’t stop talking about colouring. We just love to colour.
I personally constantly receive emails from all my gorgeous followers asking for tips and advice which of course I happily try to help where I can.

With the amazing talent we already shared I decided to change direction

AND I introduce you to…

Make it Colourful

I went searching high and low across blog land looking for inspiring colouring enthusiasts and asked if they would like to join us on this new adventure.

With just a couple of rejections… I was flawed by the number of gorgeous and very talented ladies who said YES!

I am very excited to say that

The amazing team consists of ladies from around the world.
When trying to work out our posting times I think it worked out that team members would be posting from
3am through to11pm their local time to have all the posts coincide on the same day!
I thought that was pretty close to AROUND THE WORLD!

Check out the Blog Hop for an introduction
into the amazing talent you will see next year!

Each member has their own little page on the new challenge blog where you can read about their colouring journey, their experiences, likes and tips!

The first challenge will be on January 8th!

If you are a colouring addict too, I hope you will join us!!

Have a very
Merry Christmas Everyone!

Special Warm Hugs going out to all of my wonderful friends in the freezing cold
and sending some sunshine to my fellow Aussies to dry up this rain!

Tilda Christmas Circle Easel Card

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are having a great week so far. I have so much to do that I am not doing what I should be doing. Ever feel that way?

I think sometimes we just need to take the break and do what we need to do for ourselves. So I decided I wanted to play with my new big toy. heehee

I think I have only ever made one easel card before which I hated so I am not linking you to it. lol They are pretty easy to make but to me it’s just more area I need to try and decorate. hahaha! I have enough trouble decorating the face of a card.

Anyway, I am liking the look of all these cute little circle easel cards but the dies are so small and so I thought I would design up my own base and cut it out with my toy. :)

I love the flourishes around the edge and I used my new ‘Eyelets Circle Dies‘ available in store to add a border to the circles.

I added stickles glitter everywhere. Perfect for the magic of Christmas.

Lots of embellishments for me but I have so much stuff it’s time to use it! hahaha

I just love these flowers. I am nearly out of them. Will be sorry when they are gone. I made the hat pins and thought the white leaves with some stickles added fit so well.

Edited to add: Yes I used copics to colour this image. Lots of different colours sorry and I didn’t keep track as I was just experimenting.

I was experimenting with my colouring when I coloured this Tilda. She is coloured with layers and layers of dots. I began colouring her face using the dots too but it was looking terrible. I managed to save it a little but that explains why it isn’t as smooth as usual. Hair is coloured using flicks rather than dots.

I don’t mind the technique and will try it again. I think I could have added some orange between the red and yellow on her arm to help it appear to blend better. It looks better in real life as the camera really made the red stand out too much.

FUN CHALLENGE

The latest technique challenge ended last night which means the fun challenge will start later today. Make sure you pop by to see what the design team have created and we would love to see you join us!

Thanks for stopping by to see my little creation.

Hugs and take care

Winners win Santa in RUBBER!!

Hi Everyone,

The treasure hunt was a great success and I am so happy many of you had fun looking for the hidden image! I mentioned there would be a NEW surprise prize!

The following lucky ladies have won themselves their choice of one of the very first RUBBER STAMPS (that you INK and STAMP!!) from Make it Crafty!

  1. Marley Eindhoven
  2. Patricia Stewart
  3. Angela O’Lean

Ladies, if you haven’t sent me your mailing address already please email me your details. Read on to see the new stamps and pick your favourite! :)

I am pretty excited that I am finally able to offer rubber stamps! I have been busy preparing all this behind the scenes and today I managed to make some time to make a card from one of the Santa’s to share with you.

This is ‘Cheeky Santa‘ and he comes with the sentiment
Yeah, I have prezzies but I’m keepin ‘em

I didn’t have any Christmas embellishments, well not ones that I wanted to use – heehee – so I designed up my own embellishments. I bought out my very old embossing powder and was surprised it still works. I coated the embellishments with it and they came up great.

For the first time in ages I embossed a stamp! woohooo – exciting moment here. The sentiment was embossed with red embossing powder then I cut it out using the gorgeous new Labels Seventeen Die from Spellbinders.

I was inspired by Mag’s Distressing Tutorial and created my own background. I used white linen card and then took the red and green ink pads directly to the card and just slid it across the surface. I was a little unsure how to dress it all but it’s not too bad. There’s still a few days left to enter the Distressing Challenge here!

Here’s a closer view.

Next up we have ‘Cheery Santa‘ and he comes with the sentiment
tee hee ho ho ha hee“. He’s laughing so hard he can’t quite get his ‘ho ho ho’ out!

I was in a hurry to make this card for you all and so I decided for nice and simple. He’s so quick to colour! Would you believe max of 20 mins! hehehe The card layout took me longer and umm yeah it’s really simple. hahaha

I made the little snow flakes today too and I embossed the blue one and the white one was inked with white Asirondack snow cap and then embossed with glitter embossing powder.

Added some embossed swiss dots for a bit of texture and finished off with the embossed sentiment!

Yeah my heat gun got a work out today!  heehee

Here’s a close up of Cheery!

So there you have it! Cheeky Santa and Cheery Santa in rubber just in time for Christmas!! They are both available in store now and are 7% off for one week only!!

Thanks for stopping by today and a big congratulations to the treasure hunters!!

Hugs all and take care

More Christmas – but I love Santa!

Hi Everyone,

I hope you had a fabulous weekend and were able to sneak away and get some time on your own crafting!

Today I bring to you a card that took me much longer to make than anticipated however it’s special as it is my last card as a full design team member of Karen’s Doodles. As per usual I am LATE again with my post today and it just goes to show I am trying to do too many things at once! :) With that said however I will be popping my head up now and then at KD’s as I adore her images and still want to play when I have time.

I have made some WONDERFUL friends and have loved being part of such a wonderful team of ladies.

So what’s this week’s challenge?? WHITE on WHITE except you can colour your image. :) So I thought I would make a ‘white’ christmas with Santa Waving and Santa’s House.

I embossed some sparkly white paper with a Tim Holtz fade embossing folder and the flowers have been edged with stickles and centred with prima flower centres. I cut the circle border design with a nestie and then cut the circle out in the centre so you could see through.

I coloured santa and santa’s house with copic markers.

I used r20, 22, 24, 29 and C0, 02, 04, 05, 07, 09 and blender on santa.

The snow was coloured with B000, B00 & Bo2

And the rest is patchy, sorry. If you saw my pile of copic markers sitting on the table that I haven’t put away you would understand why I am having trouble here. Thank goodness I am not sharing a photo of my desk right now!! heehee

So pop on over to play along in our white on white challenge this week and check out the gorgeous designs my teamies have created to share. And if you are starting to make a start on your Chrissy cards this year then I definitely think this is one of THE cutest Santa’s and a must have to add to your collection.

I would like to share this card with the following challenges:

Stamp Something – Flowery

Mad for Markers – Colouring White – Snow and Santas fluffy bits

Createalicious Challenges – Show some 3D

Thanks for stopping by today.

HUGS!!

Early start on Christmas – KD Sketch

Hi everyone,

This week at Karen’s Doodles we have a sketch for you to join in on. I decided to play with Bigsby this week and my idea evolved as I was making the card.

The image I used is Bigsby Swingling Lights which you can buy direct from Karen’s Doodles new online store.

Bigsby swinging christmas lights

I began colouring Bigsby when it dawned on me that the lights would be reflecting their light onto him lighting him up. So you can see I attempted to add some colour to his underbelly to show the light bouncing off him. I think if it hadn’t have been an after thought it may have turned out a little better. I’ll try this again sometime.

Then as I was deciding how I would lay out the card, I remembered I had an old leaf punch that I used to use to make wreaths and I had this idea to make some tree branches that Bigsby could be swinging from.

Christmas Card

So I punched out all the leaves and began arranging them using silicone glue to add depth. I got some gold twine and wrapped it around the leaves and over the line in the drawing. Then I coloured a few more lights and placed them up the tree.

Finally to ‘try’ and follow the sketch I created a little tag and stamped ‘JOY’ which I think describes the joy on Bigsby’s face. heehee

So that’s how my card unfolded this week. A little insight into my creative process… heehee

Jump on over to see what the gorgeous ladies have come up with this week following a great fun sketch.

I’ll be back again with more projects to share.

Hugs, take care

Collection of 2009 Christmas Cards

Christmas time always feels so busy and often I leave the Christmas cards to the last minute however this time round I started early and decided I would make each card different and experiment with some ideas!

On this card I used a cute santa polymer stamp. I coloured him in using textas, added some puff paint for his beard and trimmings and cut him out as well as cutting his little legs off! I then cut two strips of red card and repeatedly folded them on top of each other to make an ‘accordian’ strip. I attached the two ‘new’ legs under santa and then mounted him to the card with mounting tape.

I recently purchased this lovely flourish rubber stamp (Wrought Scroll by Stampington & Company) as I thought it would make some beautiful elegant cards. I started by chalking the background and then stamped stamp using clear ink and covered with embossing powder and heated. I then inked the edges of the card and used a white gel pen to outline areas of the flourish. I then finished it off with some mini rhinstones.

I created the background strip using the flourish rubber stamp with AMM chocolate paper stain ink and then sprayed it with Bronze Glimmer Mist.

I stamped the two ornaments with clear ink and then sprinkled on ‘hot set powder’ which you heat with a heat gun and it turns to glue. I then sprinkled on Martha Stewarts Smoky Quartz glitter.

Just a small sample for now.

Happy Crafting!
