Edwin has a big RED hug for YOU!

Hi Everyone,

We are back again for our SECOND Make it Colourful challenge and this week we are challenging you to colour with RED!

I was having trouble deciding what I was going to do and because I had left it to the last minute I began to get a little worried as I saw the INCREDIBLE creations rolling in from the rest of the team! Gosh these women have me on the edge of my seat drooling all over my keyboard!

The images I combined for this scene are Valentine’s Bear (Free Digi illustrated by our very own Barbara), Edwin wants a hug and the Tree of Love from Make it Crafty.

The whole image is coloured with copic markers. I am now sitting here trying to recall what all the colours are that I used.

Reds: R22, R24, R29, E19

Tree
Leaves: Y17, Y38, YR04, R24, R29
Trunk: E31, E33, E37, E17. E29, YR24

Sky: B000, B00, B02

Bear: E41, E43, E44, E47, E49

Edwin
Pants: C02, C04, C05, C07, C09
Shirt: C01, C02, C04
Skin: E000, E01, E11

I am thinking of making a collection of little tag rubber stamps that can be hidden in amongst flowers or off the page. What do you think?

I know my perspective and sizing is all out of whack but I don’t care at the moment. LOL It’s a WHIMSICAL lovey dovey card. hahahaa

I actually cut the pillow away from the bear so he could be leaning up against the tree. Also I chopped the whole top of the tree off to make the trunk the main feature of the background.

The papers I used are from the Basic Grey Max & Whiskers pad and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Craft.

I was inspired by Mary last week using acetate for her pop up card. I thought it was a great idea to use something clear to elevate Edwin. I also used it on the bear and the great thing about acetate is that when you fold it you can fold it on an angle which can give you a different kind of dimension. So the bear is actually angled with his legs higher than his head.

I hope you will join us this week and get yourself all colourful with RED! Be sure to drop over to the challenge blog to have a droooool. heehee

I would like to share this card with the following challenges

  1. Just Magnolia – My Favourite Things (COPICS & COLOURING!!  heehee)
  2. Lexi’s Creations – Say it with Love
  3. Southern Girls Challenge – Totally Loved Up
  4. Bunny Zoe’s Crafts – Love is in the air
  5. Scrap Creations – Love is in the air
  6. Stamp Something – Anything Goes
  7. Scrappy Frog Challenges – Sentimental

I know I still need to answer some of your questions. Just trying to do everything at once. :) Next post I promise!!!

BIG Squeezes! Thanks so much for popping by.

Make it Colourful – Ch#1 – Warm or Cool Colours

Hi Everyone,

I am so excited that the new challenge blog MAKE IT COLOURFUL has finally begun! Thank you so much to the many of you who have spread the word because you love to colour too!

We hope that you will enjoy playing along with our challenges and be inspired by the creative team of ladies from around the world!

Update as I write this: Haahaa
I am having a little freak out moment as I am writing this 8 minutes prior to when the post is supposed to go live.Plus my scheduled post on the colourful blog now has not gone live and so I am ripping my hair out trying to push it through!! Nothing ever runs smoothly right? tee hee

On to my card!

I had such trouble trying to decide what images I would use and at the last minute completely went in a whole different direction which has left me scrambling!!

In the end I decided to go with a manly theme using predominantly Cool Colours.

I thought I would have fun showing how Aussie Santa can be turned into a regular Aussie Joe. We have just had an Aussie BBQ designed to compliment Aussie Santa. Of course it features a number of the traditional foods found on our BBQ’s, with some prawns thrown on, a big steak and of course some snags!

Here is a close up of the image

As mentioned earlier in my post, I decided to go with cool colours. Aussie Santa is wearing a traditional workman’s blue singlet (unfortunately it’s a bit bright really) with his khaki shorts and blue rubber thongs. He’s wearing an Akubra hat and of course he’s drinking a Vic Bitter beer!

I have included some information on the challenge post that helps show the warm and cool colour choices.

Here’s a list of the Copic Marker colours I used:

Hat: E30, E33, E17, blender
Skin: E000, E01, E11
Singlet: B21, B24, B26, B28, B93, B95
Shorts: YG91, YG95, YG97
BBQ: C02, C04, C05,C07,C09
Prawns: Eo1, E11
Sausages/handles: E13, E17, E19

Beard… ummmm too many, mixture of greys, browns and yellows

Thanks so much for stopping by and I do hope you will join us over at Make it Colourful!

Hugs & take care

Technique Challenge – Distressing

Hi everyone,

I am excited to be back with the SECOND Technique Challenge. The technique challenges are where you can learn or improve on a technique and we will provide you with genuine constructive feedback.

I received great feedback from the first technique challenge on Creating a Scene. Those who participated really appreciated and looked forward to our feedback so I am really happy to know that this type of challenge has been welcomed.

Welcoming news!

I am really happy to announce that we have some new faces joining the team to play along with us during our fun challenges and on occasion they may even have some inspiration for the technique challenges.

Please welcome

Annika,

Barbara,

Beccy, &

Sheila

to the team!

Drop by with a hot cuppa in hand and kick back and let your jaws drop! hehehe
These lovely ladies will be designing up a storm of inspiration for you for our next fun challenge!

The Technique Challenge!

Over the following two weeks our delightful, and charmingly French, ‘Mag la Magnifique’ will be hosting and sharing one of her fabulous techniques on creating a distressed background using water based distress inks.

Distressed background Tutorial: You can find all the details on Mag’s tutorial in our techniques section.

The challenge itself is to create a project that has distressed elements on it. Whether it be using the technique Magali has shared, distressing the edges of your paper with a tool or inks or sanding your card stock; anything that displays an old vintage distressed look.

A new group will be set up in the ‘Learning Community‘ where you can join and ask questions about distressing, share ideas and request feedback before submitting your project to the challenge. You can also use the gallery there if you don’t have a blog or would prefer our ‘real feedback’ is private and not on your personal blog.

Where ever you post your creation just make sure you link to it here using the Inlinkz at the bottom of this page.

PLEASE NOTE:
ALL PROJECTS ADDED TO THIS CHALLENGE WILL RECEIVE
GENUINE CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK ON THE TECHNIQUE.

This means that you may receive feedback that you were not expecting or even wanting to read.
The designers will try their best to offer their suggestions in a respectable understanding manner.

Let’s get Inspired!!

Many of the ladies this week tried Mag’s tutorial on distressing the background and WOW what awesome results. It was new to all of us and we had a ball.

  1. The winner will receive a surprise gift plus a special ‘I learnt it’ badge.

I am also going to have a ‘Zoe’s Pick’ award

These will be designs that grab my attention for one reason or another. Stitch it Up with Karen’s Doodles

This week the KD girls have been playing with stitches whether they be real or faux and we want you to come play too!

Unfortuantely I don’t have a card to share with you this week. I had to go away for a few days and although I tried, I just couldn’t create one of my special Karen’s Doodles cards in time before leaving. (As this post posts I will be sitting on a plane on my way home! yay)

But the fabulous team have plenty of gorgeous cards to get your juices flowing! Jump on over to see all the action and then grab your Karen’s Doodles image and stitch it up!

Hope your weekend was fab and you had some ‘ME’ time to play with your crafts. I’ll be a bit jealous and will be hanging out to come home to play with my copics! heehee

Hugs, take care.

Play Pink & Purple & you could win Honey Tilda!

This month at The Townscrapper we are having a special month of Mother and Daughter teams. We have some special guests joining us which we are all very excited about.

This week Phebe and her daughter Catrina have joined us, and they set the Challenge of Pink and Purple!

The design team have outdone themselves this week, although it seems we were all very excited about using the new image of Sophie Rock star. But of course we did! She is perfect for a pink and purple layout!!  hehehe

Here is what I came up with this week.

I am just loving this new technique of leaving sections of the image outside the nesties. I had asked Maria how it was done without folding the image and she pointed me to this site.  However I found that if you want to have more than one part of the image outside of the circle like in my image above, rather than mark the outside of the nestability die, mark the inside. You need to do this to be able to slide the nestability in and then curve your other areas inside and slot in to place.

Then once cut I just add some regular tape behind the cuts and smooth them back into place.

I was having trouble with my layout this week. Nothing was coming to mind. In the end I decided to cut around the scalloped nestie so you could see part of the inside of the card. It turned out better than I had imagined.

I am just loving my new copic colours for Auburn/red hair. E13, 17 & 19.

So pop on over to play this week with Pink and Purple at The Townscrapper and you could win Honey Tilda!

Thanks for stopping by today and getting to the bottom of this post!!

Hugs, and take care. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Introducing Victoria Case stamps!!!

We are very excited to announce this week that
Phebe from The Townscrapper
has been working behind the scenes with the very talented
Victoria Case

to design a new series of stamps exclusively available from The Townscrapper!

Victoria Case has been illustrating for over 25 years and we are so happy and excited to be able to bring her gorgeous designs to you on rubber!

The design team have been lucky enough to have a chance to play with these stamps and I must say that they are an absolute dream to colour and are very versatile.

There are six stamps in the first series with a mixture of boys and girls to get your creative juices flowing.

It’s also FRIDAY’s CHALLENGE time

Of course it’s Friday today and so there is a challenge as well! This weeks challenge is “WARM WEATHER“, spring, summer, warm weather activities, bright colours, flowers – wherever your imagination takes you!

Somehow I think I might have missed the bright colours memo, but I do have birds and butterflies!! hehehe

Meet Sophie and her Birdiful birdies!!!

Coloured with my Copic markers on Gina K card stock.

Sophie also comes with the sentiment “You are so birdiful”

This week I was so happy when I received a vintage swap from my good friends at the Scrapboxx. The girls are so creative and I had a wonderful time arranging the embellies to create this vintage style card this week.

I added a birdie brad and I had a little birdhouse charm that worked so well with the birdiful theme.

CONTEST WINNER!

We’ll also be announcing the winner of the contest we have been running leading up to the big unveiling.

Make sure you head over to
The Townscrapper challenge blog
to see what all the amazing design team have created to show off the
new range of stamps by Victoria Case!!!

I would like to share this design with the following challenges this week:

  1. Lexi’s Creations – Anything Goes
  2. Crafty Creations – One Colour
  3. Totally Gorjuss – Something for mum
  4. Simon Says Stamp – Mother’s Day / Girly
  5. My Time to Craft – Just for mum

Take care and I hope you have a fabulous weekend.

Humble Pie Challenge plus NEWS!

This week the Humble Pie bakers had me on the ropes trying to make my first ‘Easel Card’. I hadn’t created one before and thankfully Lisa created an Easel Card  tutorial explaining how easy it really is.

Humble Pie Easel Card Challenge

There are some FANTASTIC prizes up for grabs this week and returning by popular demand we are giving away the Angel Maggie digi to every participant. So make sure you leave your email address so we can contact you.

I decided to use Angel Maggie (really any excuse will do) and came up with a concept of her floating on clouds.

To be honest however… I am not thrilled with how my card turned out this week. I think I was having mid-week designers block. I actually coloured Maggie 4 times before finally selecting one I was happy ‘enough’ with. Then my clouds didn’t quite turn out the way I wanted and well it was all downhill from there. lol I am laughing now but I wasn’t at the time.

Do you ever get those moments when nothing is working for you?? Argh it just makes me so frustrated.

Anyhow… Here is my creation for this week.

And here is the gorgeous Maggie close up.

I have also created a downloadable digi of my cloud template that you are welcome to save and use. Download Here.

So hop on over to Humble Pie and show us your Easel Cards! I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

But wait…. before you go… my exciting news!!!

I am excited to announce that I will be continuing my design position at Humble Pie and have been invited to join the Senior Bakers. I have enjoyed baking along side the girls and I look forward to more cookery in the kitchen! PLUS I am so excited about some fantastic news that is coming up that I am about bursting at the seams! But I can’t tell you that bit of news yet. So you’ll have to wait and see… hehehe

Take care all. Thanks for stopping by.

Hugs
