Make’it’Crafty is born

Firstly I would like to say welcome to the new site of Make’it’Crafty.

I have been wanting to put together a website for some time to share my ideas with others as well as join in on a fantastic community of crafters around the world. I hope you will find this site interesting and inspiring.

A little about me

I have always been one to be ‘making’ things with my hands. When I was a child I would gather cardboard boxes and make dollhouses (even with a string powered lift), make all the furniture out of cardboard, then make the paper dolls and their tagged clothing only to end up playing with it afterwards for a little while before wanting to make something new!

I was fortunate to live next door to an older couple and Len would take me under his wing and we would be out in his garage making something. One week it may have been a kite and the next big wooden stilts!

I was brought up by my grandmother and she was very crafty with her hands. She built a beautiful dollshouse from an old cupboard. She made many pieces of wooden furniture down in the old ‘chook shed’ as we named it using a hobby band saw. She would make picture frames for the walls, fireplaces and even set up electrical lighting throughout the whole house. It really was a fantastic achievement and we even took it to a big dolls show.

When I was about 15 years of age I bought my first PSX stamp, some gold embossing powder and ink from a tiny centre stall in the middle of a large shopping complex (Chadstone for those in Australia). It didn’t take long for me to become hooked and a friend of mine arranged to have a “Card Party” at her place which I eagerly attended.

Since then my crafting has been on and off, depending on time. Many of my friends became heavily involved with scrapbooking however I never really picked that up as I always figured it was really for those with children. I am however hoping to start slowly.

My main crafting passion is definitely stamping and making cards. My other passion is design. I am a web designer by trade and have been designing sites for over 10 years.

Over the years I have had a number of craft product ideas but have let them slip by only to kick myself afterwards. So this year my New Years Resolution is to “Go For IT!” and so Make’it’Crafty is born!

I do hope you find the site interesting in time and I would love to get to know you and learn and share your ideas so please add yourself to my friends (followers) list on the side bar.

Take care, and I hope that I can inspire you throughout 2010!

Hi Zoe, great to have another Aussie who shares the passion of card making. I would like to purchase inkadinks, do they sell them in Australia, or will I have to bring in from the UK. thanks.
