Tackling my fear of fur!

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are having or starting a great weekend! I was recently introduced to a new stamp store The Stamping Bazzar and well my heart was won over when I saw an upcoming release of Bikkie the Platypus. He is absolutely ADORABLE!! Yes I am just a little biased being an Aussie but many people forget about our adorable little platypus. The Koalas and kangaroos are most famous.

Anyhow… I couldn’t wait for Bikkie so I decided to plunge in and play with Hansel with Flowers. This is a big deal for me because I haven’t been too impressed with my colouring of fur to date but I thought after all the practice I had ‘flicking’ the Christmas tree a few weeks ago, surely I can ‘flick’ fur.

I think he turned out OK. There’s a few areas on his face that I shrug my shoulders over but overall I am happy.

The background image is a sneak peek of an upcoming digi I will be releasing (Rainbow Dandelion Digi now available in store). Hansel is actually standing in front of a big dandelion. The papers are BasicGrey from the pad Max & Whiskers. I think they are adorable and have been hanging out to use them but knew I would need to colour fur before I could. heehee

Sorry, no exact colours today. The fur was a big mixture of browns. The pants were the B9′s and the yellow I don’t quite recall. Sorry should have kept a list.

Thanks for stopping by today and checking out my attempt at colouring fur!

I’m off to see if I can find a half decent movie to watch!

Hugs & take care

Zoe, I think your fur is better than alright, it is fantastic. I am not sure I have the patience to color fur like that, I just stick with shading but after seeing your result, I might have to try. Thanks for the inspiration. And great background image!

Wonderful job Zoe! I originally thought you used colored pencils, but now I’m even more impressed to know you used Copics. I’m most impressed with the fine hairs at the lower part of his head. I can see that I really need to get moving on the other digis I got from you since you’ve really starting to whip them out! Who else but us artists see the beauty in dandelions?

It looks like you cut out and raised up the head and the flowers in the bouquet. If you didn’t, whatever you did looks great ’cause it has that 3-d look. Once again a lovely job (on the fur too) using the cutest image. I’m not so much into people, kids, faeries, etc, but cute animals, definitely!
