Fancy Folds at Karen’s Doodles

This week at Karen’s Doodles US Challenge it’s all about those folds! There are so many different cards you can make with fancy folds and they really do make an impression on the person you give them too!

I decided to create a pop up card using Karen’s digi stamp “Time For Tea“. I created the tree by modifying an old stock image I had in my stash and designed up my own leaves. Each leaf has been coloured and individually cut out and glued on using silicone.

I am sorry about all the images, I had trouble deciding which ones to use to show you the depth.

I coloured the images using my copic markers on Gina K c/s. I printed my cloud template I have shared in previous posts onto some handmade paper and roughly cut them out and stuck them to the back of the card. On the base of the card I have used nesties label 1 for the writing area and some ribbon from my stash.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with this week for our fancy folds, and I would love to see any POP UP cards. :)

Zoe, I am not sure which words to use…incredible, amazing, fantastic, all of the above! You have so much talent to think of these incredible creations. Your coloring is amazing, Herbert and Bigsby look like they could get up and walk around. And your tree is fantastic, it looks so real and has such dimension. What a fabulous challenge card!

I just about fell out of my chair! Wowzers upon wowzers, this is amazing! First of all, I thought, no way she coloured this, it must be one of those “card toppers”. First shock. You did colour it. Then, the leaves all hand done and cut out and popped up. Second shock. But then, all the individual elements of the design that pop up and out when you open the card! Man alive, is there anytihng you can’t do with paper? Next thing you know you’ll make a canoe… and go fishing in it! You are one amazing crafter!!!!!

Wow, I just came across you as your card made the top 5 at Fussy and Fancy, congratulations. Fabulous card. I am one of the UKDT for Karen’s Doodles. I don’t suppose you have a tutorial for making a pop-up card do you, or know where I can find one. Seen a few and would like to give it a go. Wow!! I was first drawn to this card because the turtle reminded me of the storybook character, Franklin. Then as I read the post and saw all the leaves, the pop up and the amazing coloring–I was sooo impressed! Gorgeous card!

I just have one question: How LONG did it take you to create this masterpiece? … I can’t even begin to imagine what sort of patience you must have to individually cut the leaves and all the detail coloring/blending/cutting/pasting… Oh My Goodness! It makes my head spin!
