WINNERS: Anything but a card

Hi Everyone,

Wow. I was so impressed with your creations for our Anything but a card challenge. I guess it was perfect timing with all the tags, Christmas decorations and gift bags/boxes we are making for Christmas.

However, this lead me to a very difficult decision in trying to decide the winners!

Before I announce the winners today I must let you know that we will not be having any more challenges this year. Instead we are having our very first blog hop where I will be releasing some gorgeous new images as well as sharing some great news! I do hope you will join us for this fun event on the 18th December. If you haven’t already, grab our blog hop blinkie and add it to your side bar so you remember to join us. Plus for those who join the hop and also have our blinkie on their sidebar they will go into the draw for an additional prize!

Onto the winners!! Each winner will receive the fabulous 3D wishing well kit.

Thank you ladies for sharing your talent with us!

Please contact me with your mailing address so I can send of your prize!

You are also welcome to add the ‘I Won It!’ badge on your blog.

A big thank you to everyone who has participated in our challenges over the last few months!

It has been a fantastic opportunity to see so many creative spirits and quite the learning experience for myself too!

Anything but a card challenge!

Hi Everyone,

We’re back with another FUN challenge where we let our hair down and get creative!! With Christmas only a few weeks away we thought it would be fun to have an Anything but a Card challenge! So you could make some gift boxes, presents or even gift tags!

To get your juices flowing the Make it Crafty ladies have been very busy creating quite a diverse array of gift boxes and gifts to share with you. I just hope they have packaged em up and sent them to me for Chrissie. Heeheee  :)

So let’s get inspired!!

Jill

Just want to shout out a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Jill who’s daughter has just had a baby. I hope you are having a wonderful time in America Jill and getting lots of snuggly cuddles. :)

Jill created this set of draws by modifying a tutorial she found at splitcoaststampers.
She created the scene on top using the Hilly Lane Landscape, Old Oak Tree, Whimsical Mushroom and Boot House

Beccy

Beccy created these gorgeous Twisted top Gift boxes! They are so cool and perfect for some yummy baked goods!

Beccy incorporated Cheeky Santa (available in digi & rubber!) and Sapphire Sitting Fairy

Sandy

Sandy created this stunningly elegant gift box with the adorable Jolly Santa on top.
I just love the sparkly fluff on Santa’s trimmings!

Mag

Poor Mag had a little bit of an accident last week and her hands are in quite a bit of pain.
However she wanted to make sure she would have something to share with you today and she created this gorgeous little gift box.
I have some great prices on Flowers and Nestabilities for decorating your gift boxes at the moment!

Sheila

Shiela made this fabulous cookie box with Cheery Santa (available in digi and rubber!). How cute is the sentiment on the window too!!
I just hope they’ll safely make their way to Australia without getting squished during the journey. heehee

Annika

OK so Annika claims it isn’t a card… I rolled my eyes but she jumped up and down announcing it was a ‘Shadow Box’ heehee
I can see some shadows I guess…
Annika came up with yet another original, incorporating Aussie Santa with the Gingerbread House.
Annika – I’m pretty sure he’s feeling a tad COLD!!!

Carisa

Carisa took the plunge and created the Wishing Well Kit I designed and decorated with a festive spirit and the new Sapphire Holly Fairy.
I just looove the snow caps and that distressed paint!!
Wouldn’t this make an adorable gift for Chrissie or even a decoration for the Christmas table?

Barbara

Barbara also took the plunge to play with the Wishing Well Kit and I am so excited that she decorated it with designer papers!
(first time I have seen the wishing well covered in paper :))
I love the white edging and pretty butterflies! Another gorgeous gift for Chrissie!

Maria

Maria took on the challenge of decorating the Wishing Well Kit and she was quite nervous as it was her first 3D project.
I just love how pretty it turned out and can just imagine how nice it would be for as part of a wedding gift or baby shower.

In the spirit of Christmas, this challenge there will be THREE winners each winning a Wishing Well Kit.

The kit comes flat with ALL the pieces cut out and marked along with instructions to assemble.
AND once assembled you can turn the handle and the bucket will lift up or down.

Make it Move Technique Challenge

Hi Everyone,

It’s that time of the month again at Make it Crafty and it’s my turn to host the challenge and look after you for the next couple of weeks. :)

Now, could you imagine me doing something other than challenging you to make something that MOVES? heehee

I have created a group in the Learning Community called Make it Move where you will be able to come and ask for help or bounce ideas.

I have also designed a step by step guide showing how I made my card below which I have called a ‘Sliding Pop Up Easel card“.

PLEASE REMEMBER:
ALL PROJECTS ADDED TO THIS CHALLENGE WILL RECEIVE
GENUINE CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK ON THE TECHNIQUE.

This means that you may receive feedback that you were not expecting or even wanting to read.
The designers will try their best to offer their suggestions in a respectable understanding manner.

Let’s get Inspired!!

I am very excited to have one of my super gorgeous crafty friends play along with us this challenge. We have been friends from early on when I started this blog and I asked if she would play with my new 3D Wishing Well Kit and tell me what she thought of it.

How GORGEOUS is this creation? For more details and gorgeous close ups jump over to Kylie’s blog.

Kylie Kueter

Me

This is the Sliding Pop Up Easel card I made for the tutorial

I didn’t go overboard with embellishments as I wanted to keep it simple and show the functionality. But as you can imagine you can have a lot of fun with this.

I used the new ‘Sandstone Citadel‘ and ‘Lily Pads’

Beccy

Beccy must have done an all nighter as I was very late with my tutorial (slaps wrist)
and she managed to follow the instructions and create this fabulous card

Images used are, Christmas Elves House, Cheeky Santa & Cheery Santa

Mag

Mag created this gorgeous pop up card

Carisa

Carisa created this unique flip open pocket card.

Sandy

Sandy created this stunning Christmas card where the front can be spun around and the snow flake pops open when you open the card

Sandy incorporate ‘Cheery Santa

Barbara

Barbara created a spinning style card too. When you open the card the centre front image will flip into place as well as the characters pop up!

Barbara incorporate the new ‘Sandstone Citadel

For all the details on how the creative team made their projects this week, please visit their individual blogs.

And of course we need some prizes don’t we!!

Being a technique challenge there will be a few prizes up for grabs!

I am very excited to be offering an…

Encouragement Award!

Sketch FUN Challenge

Hi Everyone,

We’re back with another fun challenge! The fun challenge is where we all let our hair down and have some fun and this week we are playing with a sketch I put together for you as well and to follow on from the distressing technique challenge we would like you to make it a bit vintage!

During the FUN challenges the WHOLE team is here to show you what they’ve been up to and I must say (although slightly biased I am sure) the ladies have rocked this challenge!

Each time a project would come rolling in I was in awe. :) I think I mentioned to them that I felt like a ‘proud rooster strutting around’ hahaha

I really love the diversity of ideas this team brings together for you and I hope each of you find some inspiration amongst these examples!

Firstly I would like to introduce you to the four lovely new team members who will be joining us each FUN challenge!

Annika

Annika incorporated the ‘FREE’ Zombie with the ‘Aussie Outcack Shack Digis
I just love all the texture she added to this layout.

Barbara

Barbara combined the FREE Christmas Elves with the Mushroom house
The bold colours are fabulous and I would never have imagined combining these two images!

Beccy

Beccy showed us how versatile these images can be and created a Christmas card using the ‘Slimy House
A fabulous idea to add glitter to the Slimy House roof. It’s gorgeous.

Sheila

Sheila wowed us with her gorgeous colouring on the ‘Fairy Tree House

Lydia

Lydia is back again for the fun challenge and combined the ‘FREE’ Zombie with the ‘Crooked Picket Fence
How cool is that charm hanger! I’m definitely using that one!

Jill

Jill created this great scene combining the ‘Wonky House on Hill‘ with the Crooked Picket Fence
Jill also told me that the Copic Xpress Paper works well with Pro Markers too!

And now on to the fab techniquers..  hahaha I only just came up with that one (add that word to the dictionary!)

Carisa

Carisa used the ‘Eerie Scene‘ digi (Check out that embossed moon!)

Leah

Leah created a scene using the ‘Crooked Picket Fence
I just LOVE the embellies and check out the dictionary text!

Mag

Mag created a scene with the ‘Eerie Scene‘ Digi and she used the pumpkin charm from the Halloween charms set. I just love the effect on the moon!

Maria

Maria combined the ‘Open Window‘ digi with a gorgeous Tilda. I just love all the distressed papers.

Sandy

Sandy created a gorgeous card using the new ‘Gingerbread House‘. I just love the colours she used.

How diverse is that?? There’s something here for everyone I think! :)

So to remind you of the challenge…

Here’s the Sketch

And try and something vintage!

Distressing Technique Winners

Hi everyone,

What a great turn out for our second technique challenge. I hope a few of you were prepared for your feedback as I noticed there were a number of entries who had submitted to a number of challenges. :) teehee I think I managed to get around to all of you with feedback and my team made a great effort to give you feedback too. Thanks to everyone who joined in. I’ll be back with the fun challenge later!

On to the winners. Well as per usual, there is NO Luck with the Make it Crafty challenges. I like to select the winners based on their use of the technique. I had a very difficult task ahead of me and I spent most of today on and off trying to reduce my list of candidates. heehee Thanks for making it so difficult ladies! I finally decided though… and

The winner this week is

Viv

I have to admit I fell in love with the torn paper behind the doily. I can just imagine it being used as a treasure map.
I love all the distressed details and the flowers and those mushroom pins!!

Viv, you have won yourself the little distressing pack. Please contact me with your shipping details.

You are also welcome to wear the Make it Crafty ‘I Won it’ badge on your blog.

I had trouble picking a top 2 so umm I changed the rules. We now have a top 5 this challenge.

I loved all of these projects for different reasons (hence my problem in choosing just two!)

1. Kiksi

8. Shirl

17. Myrna I

22. Tini A.

25. Nancy T.

Ladies, please contact me with your choice of one digi stamp from my store by using the contact form.

You are also welcome to wear the Make it Crafty ‘I Topped it’ badge on your blog.

And now for my special award that I will only have during each technique challenge.

The purpose of these technique challenges is to give an opportunity to those looking for real feedback and help/advice on their projects. The Learning Centre was started to be able to create a ‘safe’ haven where like minded ladies (and men if they are crafty teehee) can come together and ask questions, get help and feedback without all the fluff. :)

The award this week goes to 20. Theresa with her second attempt.

Fabulous effort Theresa and I’m so glad we were able to guide you on your second card.

Contact me with your shipping address Theresa and I have a little surprise to send your way.

You are also welcome to wear the ‘I learnt it’ badge on your blog.

Thanks to everyone who joined us and I hope you will pop back later to check out the fun challenge!

Technique Challenge – Distressing

Hi everyone,

I am excited to be back with the SECOND Technique Challenge. The technique challenges are where you can learn or improve on a technique and we will provide you with genuine constructive feedback.

I received great feedback from the first technique challenge on Creating a Scene. Those who participated really appreciated and looked forward to our feedback so I am really happy to know that this type of challenge has been welcomed.

Welcoming news!

I am really happy to announce that we have some new faces joining the team to play along with us during our fun challenges and on occasion they may even have some inspiration for the technique challenges.

Please welcome

Annika,

Barbara,

Beccy, &

Sheila

to the team!

Drop by with a hot cuppa in hand and kick back and let your jaws drop! hehehe
These lovely ladies will be designing up a storm of inspiration for you for our next fun challenge!

The Technique Challenge!

Over the following two weeks our delightful, and charmingly French, ‘Mag la Magnifique’ will be hosting and sharing one of her fabulous techniques on creating a distressed background using water based distress inks.

Distressed background Tutorial: You can find all the details on Mag’s tutorial in our techniques section.

The challenge itself is to create a project that has distressed elements on it. Whether it be using the technique Magali has shared, distressing the edges of your paper with a tool or inks or sanding your card stock; anything that displays an old vintage distressed look.

A new group will be set up in the ‘Learning Community‘ where you can join and ask questions about distressing, share ideas and request feedback before submitting your project to the challenge. You can also use the gallery there if you don’t have a blog or would prefer our ‘real feedback’ is private and not on your personal blog.

Where ever you post your creation just make sure you link to it here using the Inlinkz at the bottom of this page.

PLEASE NOTE:
ALL PROJECTS ADDED TO THIS CHALLENGE WILL RECEIVE
GENUINE CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK ON THE TECHNIQUE.

This means that you may receive feedback that you were not expecting or even wanting to read.
The designers will try their best to offer their suggestions in a respectable understanding manner.

Let’s get Inspired!!

Many of the ladies this week tried Mag’s tutorial on distressing the background and WOW what awesome results. It was new to all of us and we had a ball.
