Birthday Post Winners

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I am late with the winners post. I had hoped to post the winners yesterday but I had one of those ‘Only happen to Zoe’ days. I’ll bore you with the details at a later date! hah!

Thank you so much to everyone who left me well wishes for my birthday. I have been quite overwhelmed by the whole ‘event’ and by all of you!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Don’t forget that the DT Blog Hop is STILL going and if you make me a birthday card the girls organised a little surprise freebie digi stamp to give away.

For all the details GO HERE!!

On to the WINNERS!!

So it was DH’s idea for the amount of prizes that should be given away, so I gave him the privilege of randomly picking some numbers.

He blurted out 4, 171 & 92.

Yup I sighed when he said 171, thinking “gosh, now I have to count through them all.” Fortunately my brain kicked in and I went backwards instead! haha OK so hopefully I have counted them right!!

And the winners  of the Make it Crafty spending spree are…

No: 4 – Susie Little has won $100

No: 171 – Nikki C has won $50

No: 92 – Sandys has won $25

Congratulations ladies!!

Please contact me via the contact form top right and I’ll explain how to claim your ‘gift away’ :)

Now… you know me… I hate it when there are a bunch of people who miss out.
I know what it’s like and your heart sinks just a little even though you are happy for those who won.

I can’t afford to give away another 199 prizes…
however I thought instead I could offer a24 hour 15% discount off ALL digi stamps.

If you have had a digi stamp or two on your wish list, now is the time to snap em up!

I’m Home! What a disaster trip!

Hi Everyone,

Here’s the story of my ‘break away’… I doubt I will be able to tell it well but here goes.

I have been ‘whinging’ to DH for a couple of weeks that I am tired and just need to get away for a few days and relax. No computers (so I am not tempted to check and respond to emails) and a nice relaxing bed so I can SLEEP! Many of you know that I don’t sleep much and I think it is partly due to having so many fabulous customers and friends across the world and they are all awake when I should be sleeping! haha! So hours pass, I don’t get to bed until some ridiculous hour in the early morning and then only catch 4-5 hours sleep! So yup, I am tired constantly!!

So… moving on. Last weekend was it! I had had enough, I was exhausted, drained and could feel if I didn’t take a break I would collapse! So DH planned a little trip away for a few days.

You need a little background before I continue.

A couple of years ago, DH and I would go out every weekend four wheel driving in the mountains, on the beach and so on. We would traipse around the mountains, through rivers, exploring and so on and we always had our Gold Pan with us! I would play around in the rivers seeing if I could find just a speck of gold. We never did, but it was fun. However last year DH started to get Gold Fever bad! He’s been researching all these different places – he’s a good researcher and has learned heaps – and we even invested in a metal detector. Really an excuse to get back out there again and have a play. STILL no gold has been found! haha  The fact is, we just don’t live in a great part of the country for it and so you have to travel long distances to get to the areas that supposedly have gold.

OK so that’s enough background.

So when I said I needed a break – DH said he was busting to go to this new place he had found in New South Wales. There was a gold mine there and this couple run a camp there with tours and so on. Plus we could bring the dogs too!!  He rang the operators, and found out they had a powered caravan, toilets, showers, dining area, kitchen and so on. All we had to do was bring ourselves, some food and etc etc… I asked how long it would take to get there and DH said – oh about 5 hours. I agreed and so we booked in and began preparing to take off.

Tuesday morning we packed up the dog’s with their bed in the back, plenty of water, our bed covers and pillows (just in case), all our gear, food that didn’t need to be refrigerated, my COPICS of course, and other bits and pieces. We planned to stop off for our cold stuffs closer to destination. We finally made our start out at 9:30am, expecting to arrive at our destination around 3ish. DH was sooo excited, he had all these aspirations of how much gold he was going to find and had been dreaming about finding big nuggets!

We hadn’t got far before Tigger started whimpering in the back. He’s our big old Staffy and is about 12 1/2 years old. We pulled into the next rest area and let him out so he could have a wander around, give him a drink and so on. It turned out that the poor boy wasn’t feeling the best and had a case of diarrhoea but other than that he was happy and running around like normal. We decided that maybe he had eaten some berries or something and we would continue. We stopped for lunch and Tigger still had some bowel troubles but again was still happy within himself.

It was around this time after 3 hours that I began to wonder how much longer it was going to take to get to this place. We were STILL in Queensland and still many kilometres from our destination. We continued on our way, definitely enjoying the scenery and the dog’s were fast asleep in the back. By the time we hit the border, more than 5 hours had passed and we still had quite a distance to travel. It was now when I began to tease DH. It had turned into what we call another ‘DH Adventure!’ These adventures are always miscalculated and can  find us in ridiculous situations where it is just laughable. They are indeed an adventure and funny AFTERWARDS! At this time, little did I know what was ahead!

So… after more travelling, stopping off to get DH’s fav gourmet sausages, cold meats and so on in a town closer to our destination, we FINALLY arrive at 6:30PM!!!! 9 HOURS!!!! Nearly double DH’s estimate!!! hahaa My bum was sore, the dog’s wanted to run around, it was getting cold and I was just about ready to collapse in bed but I was hungry!

So first things first, I get showed around the place by the owners. DH is chatting away with the guy and the lady is showing me around and telling me about everything. It was hard to see much because everything was pitch black and they were running on solar panels so light was scarce. The caravan was OK at first glance. I’m not a snob or anything and I wasn’t expecting five star treatment. The toilets were across the lane way, the dining area was up near their own caravan and the kitchen was in an annex off the side of their caravan (felt a bit awkward actually). There was a BBQ area out the front of their caravan and to be honest I still don’t know where the showers are!!

We took the dogs up for a run out the back and then tied them up out the front of our caravan under the awning with their bed as there were a couple of other dog’s and thought it best to wait until morning to introduce them. Gave the dogs their dinner, unpacked our stuff out of the car and started to settle in a little. It was beginning to get a bit cold and the owners asked us what we were planning for dinner. I mentioned I had got some sausages on the way and asked where I could cook them up. They said they would start up the BBQ.

So we all sat around the fire and after some time of chatting, started cooking. They cooked up some pork steaks and a few sausages for themselves and we cooked our sausages. Now this part is going to be hard to explain, but it soon became apparent that this couple, although nice, were a bit crazy. LOL They were preparing for bad times ahead, living off solar power, generators, they even light a fire to warm up the water. I don’t have any problems with that, good on em, as I too believe there will be bad times ahead, but it was discussions like ‘Deadly viruses being found on the moon and brought back to Earth to unleash on us’ that had my warning bells ringing!! And there were many more stories like this! DH and I would glance at each other every now and then with the look of ‘Can you believe what you are hearing?!?’. I am not saying that everything they said didn’t have some truths to it, but just that they had a bit of a warped way at looking at things.

So, everything finished cooking and they put it all onto a big plate and we sat up at a picnic table. DH and I grabbed one of our sausages each and threw em into a slice of bread (we had 6 in total). When I looked back at the plate, I noticed most of our sausages were gone and there was only one left! DH had started on his second one but didn’t have any others on his plate. I looked around and realised the other guy took OUR gourmet sausages and left his OWN! Ok so I know right now I sound like a snob, but they are the sausages we like. We just don’t like the taste of the regular sausages. I was freaking out because I knew DH was hungry, and so was I. I was trying to decide if I could get by on one sausage so DH could have the other one but in the end decided I would have to have it. I thought well maybe this guy will offer up one of his pork steaks. Next thing, DH is eating PLAIN slices of bread. Argh!! He’s FURIOUS! lol I’m freaking out and then we sat there and watched this guy make more sandwiches with his pork steaks in front of us. Oh it was a disaster. We didn’t say anything to each other at the time.

So not long after, everyone ‘retires’ – it’s around 9:30pm. It had become REALLY REALLY cold and I had to put on another layer of clothes and a jacket NEXT to the fire!! I was worried about the dogs and told DH I wanted to put them back in the 4x4with their bed. They are outside dog’s but when it gets below 10 degrees here I usually soften and let them inside for the night. So we organised to put them in the car and then I went in to the caravan for a moment whilst DH was doing something outside. I heard Tigger whimpering and ran out to DH saying we better take him to the toilet.

Disaster stuck… We opened the back doors to find the poor boy had already been. It was EVERYWHERE!! Fortunately it wasn’t over the bed and Kiara had managed to get out of the way. We got them out of the 4×4 and stood there in disbelief. Freezing cold and pitch black with only our torches we started to look around to see if we could find a way to wash it out. We found a hose!! We unravelled the hose and turned it on but nothing came out the end, it was full of holes and was spurting water everywhere but out the end. So here I am trying to cover the leaks with freezing water coming out and we get a touch of water out the end. DH is trying to wash out the back and after what seemed like forever and fingers frozen like ice, we clean up the mess.

We decided that the dogs were just going to have to hate us and stay out under the awning. We sacrificed our towels to wrap them up and give them some warmth and then went to bed. It was soooo cold that we didn’t even bother taking our clothes off and we were clinging to each other for dear life! We couldn’t understand why it seemed to get colder and colder. We were inside now under the covers!! The bed was so uncomfortable that we couldn’t sleep and began to chat about the nights events. The sausages were finally discussed and have since become quite the joke. The whole day had turned into a comedy of events.

However, it didn’t stop there. We hadn’t got to sleep, before Tigger began whimpering again. I got up, put my jacket on and rushed out. He needed to go to the toilet again. I returned, freezing, and snuggled up to DH again. About an hour passed and again, Tigger needed to go to the toilet again. It was DH’s turn this time. DH was ready to pack up everything and go home. He said this was going to continue through the night and we were freezing and we weren’t at all impressed with what he had landed us in and the guy ate his sausages!! You just don’t take another man’s food!! LOL

However, I talked him into staying, saying he needed to sleep before driving all that way. However he was right, we were up every 45mins to help Tigger, taking it in turns to help our poor boy. We really got no sleep, were freezing cold and just exhausted.

Finally morning arrived and we soon realised how we just couldn’t get any warmth. The windows in the caravan were all broken!! The slats were missing!!! We just couldn’t believe it. We were going to start packing up to get out of there, when the couple came out to tell us about the day they had planned for us. (We had no idea prior to coming that we were being set up for a day with them). Tigger seemed to be better in himself (the worst was over) and so I reluctantly went along. After a few hours of being bored out of my brain, a huge headache, Tigger whimpering on and off I decided I had just had enough of it all and I disappeared into the caravan to lay down. After about 30 mins, DH came running in and said “Come on let’s get out of here”. FINALLY!!!

So we quickly packed up, told them that we needed to get Tigger home and got out of there. The trip home was faster as Tigger was obviously feeling a bit better and was sooooooo happy to be back in the car driving. Both dogs slept the whole way back and we finally made it home about 11pm.

We were so exhausted by the end of our little ‘trip away’ that we pretty much slept for the whole day the next day. haha We decided we would never complain about our own bed again and I get to organise the NEXT getaway. lol

So there you have it. My few days ‘getaway’ turned into a 38 hour disaster trip that I ended up needing to take a break when I got home! Poor DH felt so bad about taking me all the way out there for my ‘break’. But I do think it was just another funny DH adventure.

I still behaved though and kept off the computer to an extent and have been enjoying a few days rest at HOME in my OWN bed!
OH and I have been crafting too! I’ll have some stuff to finally share with you. :)

Tigger, is perfectly fine too. He must have eaten something or had a bit of a stomach bug. He’s currently out in the back yard sunning himself. :)

Oh, and no… we didn’t have time to find any gold. LOL

If you managed to sit and read through all that, I hope I managed to offer up a few chuckles. :)

Special Celebration Winners! Finally!!!

Hello Hello!!

I am so sorry for my absence and on top of that I am sooooo sorry for taking so long to finalise the celebrations in July. I am making some changes which will be announced soon which has led to an incredibly busy month that I hadn’t quite anticipated. I ended up taking some big leaps and bounds rather than going via stepping stones. LOL Hence the crazy month!!

But the guilt of this last week has really set in and I just had to drop around to each of the amazing projects that were entered into the Make it Crafty 1 year celebrations and leave some love and thanks.

As I hopped around I was left in awe at the incredible amount of effort that you all went to. I feel so lucky to have such incredible talent playing with the Make it Crafty images. I was also so happy to read on a number of occasions that it was the first time a few of you had ever merged images together! You sounded as though you had plenty of fun so I do hope you have continued to enjoy creating scenes. :)

So at the end of leaving my thanks and trying to pick my jaw up off the ground… I have been left with a dilemma. How on earth am I going to choose winners from all these incredible projects?

So… I am going to chicken out. For the grand winners I have to use a random generator – however I have also decided to have some special mentions too!

One on One Live Video Colouring
Session with Me!

Well there was a little secret I didn’t quite let you in on.

You see, there was no way I was going to be able to select someone without being slightly biased. Many of you are familiar ‘faces’ and so I would have felt awkward choosing someone I ‘knew’ thinking that other’s may think it is favouritism and then that would lead me to choose with bias.

So I didn’t pick the winner.

Instead, I asked DH to read through all the comments and pick someone.

and he chose

AJ!

He said, “Zoe I think we need to bring AJ back to light, we can’t leave her on the dark side now can we?”

He is quite the character and of course does find all this ‘colouring biz’ amusing.
He did however offer to help AJ. :) lol

So congratulations AJ! Looks like we’ll be having a good ole chat soon! hehee

Please contact me and we’ll work out how it will all work. :) hehee

Winner of the Steampunk Card on FaceBook!

After deleting the double comments I ran over to random.org and he chose….

Kay Louise Priest

Congratulations Kay. Please contact me with your postal address.

and finally…

$250 worth of MiC Goodies CANDY WINNER!!

and the winner is….

119!

Loz

Congratulations Loz. :)

Please contact me with your addy and I’ll send this selection of goodies your way. :)

Boy that was quite a lot to get through!!

I hope you were one of the lucky ones this month and you know I always feel terrible for those of you who weren’t so lucky, however I do hope you have had fun celebrating with me and I hope you have had fun with the new steampunk release.

Don’t forget that Christy and I will soon be announcing the winners of the ‘I SPY’ game too. I hope you entered!!

Thanks again for such a  fabulous year!!
